Cameron Patterson is Longwood University’s Vice President for Student Affairs overseeing an area that includes student housing, student conduct & integrity, campus dining, campus recreation, Title IX, student activities, multicultural affairs, counseling center, fraternity & sorority life, and campus police. He also serves as the Senior Partner for Strategic Initiatives at the Moton Museum, a National Historic Landmark affiliated with Longwood University.
He previously served as Executive Director of the Robert Russa Moton Museum. His work with the museum has led to increased staffing support, Moton’s expanded presence across the commonwealth, expanding a thriving partnership with Longwood University, increased programs, new partnerships with the National Park Service, expanding resources for young visitors, and currently an effort for the museum to obtain World Heritage status.
Cameron is actively involved in the local community and across the Commonwealth, supporting several different organizations and initiatives. Most recently, he was appointed by the Governor to serve as a member of the New College Institute and the Brown v. Board of Education Scholarship Committee. He also serves as a member of the State Board of Directors for the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities, Families Forward Virginia, Centra Southside Community Hospital, Centra Foundation, Virginia Children’s Book Festival, and the Farmville Planning Commission.
A Lynchburg, Virginia, native, he graduated from Longwood University with a bachelor of science degree in history, and a master’s degree in counselor education.
